IBM La Gaude Research Centre (Partial Elevation) La Gaude, France — completed 1962 Marcel Breuer's hilltop laboratory above the Côte d'Azur, designed for IBM France in the year of his Whitney Museum commission. The elevation captures the building's defining motif: a precast concrete façade of deep, faceted Y-shaped supports that double as solar shading, lifting the laboratory floors above the landscape on a tree-like structural rhythm.
