Frank Lloyd Wright's last major work, opened six months after his death and the culmination of sixteen years of design through some seven hundred sketches. The museum inverts every assumption of its typology: instead of a sequence of enclosed galleries, a single continuous ramp spirals upward for nearly half a mile around a central rotunda, lit from above by a glass dome. Wright conceived the visit as a descent — the building itself becoming the curatorial frame. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.
